William (Will) C. Walker has been involved with world of community broadcasting and broadcast radio since the late 1970’s. While not active as a Ham, William realizes the importance this form of communications has in our day to day lives as evidenced by the number friends he has that are licensed as Ham Radio Operators.
For the last decade William has been one of the national leaders in the development of legal unlicensed AM broadcast radio in the form of Part 15 AM broadcasting. William markets and sells the Hamilton Rangemaster transmitter, an FCC Type Accepted unit suitable for legal, unlicensed broadcasting in the AM band. William along with Don Schellhardt are the co-founders of the Amherst Alliance.
William has helped dozens of people start their own legal, Part 15 AM stations in an effort to further “niche” community broadcasting in our neighborhoods and cities. William is also planning to re-launch his own commercial Part 15 AM station in the not too distant future.
Presently, William is working to create a new licensed commercial, Low Power AM Radio Service and was one of the key writers and creators of the FCC’s Petition for Rulemaking, RM-11287 as well as the earlier edition known as the Baumgartner Petition which was presented to the FCC in 2003. The following websites www.wilw.com and www.lpam.net are services that he offers to the low power broadcast community.
